USA Blanks Bosnia and Herzegovina 2-0, in first face of Knockout Round 32, Advance to Round of 16, to Meet Belgium @ FIFA World Cup 2026

SANTA CLARA, CA (SMI-GLOBAL-SPORTS-JUNE 11-JULY 19, 2026)-World 17, & FWC 26 Co-host, USA defeated Bosnia and Herzegovina 2-0, in the first phase of the Knock-Out round 32, and front of 68,827 spectators, advance to the round of 16, to face Belgium (UEFA/Euro) who beat Senegal 3-2,  at Santa Clara, California.

Team USA who is competing in its 12th Global FIFA Tournament as a Co-cost, started the game firing on all cylinders with continuous offensive attacks during the entire half, and the great support of its 68K+ fans that attended to cheer the stars and Stripes on its first knockout game of the tournament.

After multiple counter-attacks and the game still scoreless with 1' left in the half, midfielder tried to squeeze a pass inside the box to striker Folarin Balogun, deflecting off two defenders inside the 18' to Balogun who score with a rolling left footed in back of the net at 45' and give the US 1-0, lead at the half.

​

At 63' mark, US striker Balogun was sent off after VAR review that verified that he indeed stepped-on defender Muharempvic's ankle to leave the Stars and Stripes with 10-men the rest of the game.

​

With a man down, the US kept the pressure and during a counter-attack through the left side field, Weston McKennie inside the box pass the ball to Malik Tillman to Christian Pulisic who score tapped in the all inside the net but it was nulled due to an offside call by the linesman at 78' mark.

​

With 8' remaining in the game, midfielder Malik Tillman scores the second goal for the Stars and Stripes through a direct kick to the left goalpost in

hack of the net to seal the 2-0 win for the US, and send the sold out crowd in wild celebration.

With the 2-0, victory, the Stars and Stripes advance to the round of 16, knockout games against Belgium who defeated Senegal 3-2, in the other knockout game to be played on Monday July 06, 2026 at Seattle, WA.
