The Historic 23rd edition of the newest 48-team Men's International FIFA World Cup 2026, co-hosted by the USA, México & Canada concluded with Spain defeating Argentina (Reigning Champions) 1-0, in extra time, during a sunny Sunday afternoon & sold-out match of 80,663 fans to claim its 2nd World Cup crown at Rutherford NJ.

A clash between two global Champions "Spain (Europe) and Argentina (Americas) who battled during the entire game with the Spaniards eventually finishing victorious over "La Albiceleste " 1-0, with forward Ferran Torres scoring the winning goal in extra-time at 106' mark.

Spain outperformed Argentina in game stats in every categories:

Shots 20-3, Shots on Target 11-0, possession 68% to 32%, Passes 803 to 445, Pass Acuracy 90% to 78%.

La Roja controlled the game but could not find the back of the net till striker Ferran Torres score in the first period of extra- time after center pass inside the box Nico Williams passed the ball with a header to Torres who score with a left footed canon in back of the net to seal the 1-0, victory for Spain and secure the second World Cup crown for Spain.

Spain top scorer in the world cup 2026: Mikel Oyarzabal 5-goals & Mikel Merino registered 2 goals in the tournament.
