"Les Blues " controlled the midfield and outperformed Paraguay with numerous counterattack but were not able to finish it in the net for a scoreless draw at the half.

In the first 10' of the second half, and France on its first major counter-attack through the left-side field, Manu Kone shot a right footed canon from 25-yards away toward goal deflecting off Paraguayan goalkeeper Oralbdo Gill's glove out-bound for a sensational save.

At 61' mark, forward Desire Doue entered the game for Bradley Barcola and during a counter-attack through the leftside field, William Saliba passed the ball to Doue who in breakaway inside the box evaded 3-defender but was brought down by Paraguay's Diego Gómez for a penalty call by the referee llgiz Tantashev(Uzbekistan).

Super-star Kylian Mbappe executed the penalty scoring with a low right -footed in back of the net near the right goalpost for his 7th goal in the World up and secure the 1-0, for France over Paraguay.

With the 1-0, win, France advance to the Quarterfinals to face Morocco who defeated Canada 3-0, on Thursday July 09, 2026 16:00 at Boston, Massachusetts.
