Brazil, a 5-time World Cup Champions, and competing in its 23rd Global FIFA Tournament face-off Japan in a showdown match with the " Canarinho" outlasting the "Samurai Blue" 2-1, in a thrilling ending, advance to rounds of 16, while eliminating Japan out of the tournament at Houston, Texas.

Brazil controlled the midfield from the start and use continuous counter-attacks without finding the back of the net in the first 25' of the half.

​

Japan, in its first major counter-attack through the middle, Kaishu Sano in a breakaway shot a right footed rolling bullet near the left goalpost from 22-yard away, ending inside the net to shock Brazil and give the " Samurai Blue" 1-0, lead at 29' mark.

​

In the 2nd half, Brazil went to the attack firing on all cylinders with 3 major offensive attacks within span of 4', finding the equalizer at 56' through midfielder Casemiro.

​

Brazil's defender Danilo sent a center pass inside the box connecting with Bruno Guimaraes, who barely missed the back of the net with header with goalkeeper Zion Suzuki parrying the ball away for a sensational save.

At 53' mark, and through the right side field, defender Gabriel Magallanes sent a long center pass inside the 6-yard box, finding Douglas Santos with a header passed it to Casemiro who with a flying header almost score deflecting off Japan's Takehiro Tomiyasu face back onto the field for another outstanding save for Japan.

 

Brazil kept the pressure @ 2' later through the leftside field Gabriel Magalhaes from outside the 18', centered inside the 6-yard box to Casimiro who score the equalizer with wonderful header to level the game 1-1, at 56' mark.

With the game in stoppage time, through the right side field Rayan passed to Guimaraes to Gabriel Martinelli who score the winning goal with a low right footed hitting the right goalpost in back of the net for 2-1, Brazil and sending the Brazilian fans in wild celebration #fifaworldcup2026
