Argentina outlasted Switzerland 3-1, with two goals in 2nd Extra period to advance to its 3rd consecutive semifinals round and face England who defeated Norway 2-1, in the other quarterfinal match next WednesdayJuly 15, at Atlanta Stadium.

La Albiceleste on its first major counter-attack through the left side field, Messi centered the ball from a corner-kick inside the 6-yard box finding MacAllister who score with a header to the far right goalpost in back of the net for 1-0, Argentina at 10' mark.

Both teams interchanged counter-attacks the rest of the the way without any major danger at either goal and closed out the half with La Albiceleste leading 1-0, over Switzerland.

In the 2nd half, Switzerland went to the offensive with four consecutive counter-attacks in a span of 5' and found the equalizer through Dan Ndoye at 67' mark.

The Red Crosses kept the pressure and a minute later, midfielder Granit Xhaka shot from 30-yards away to the hands of Martinez for another sensational save denying the equalizer for the Swiss.

In a counter-attack through the leftside corner, Swiss Ricardo Rodriguez squeezed a pass inside the box to forward Noye who score with a right footed lower shot to the far right goalpost to level the game 1-1, at 67' mark.

 

During the game in 2nd extra period, Julian Alvarez through the leftside field and from outside box kicked a right-footed curled shot to the upper right goalpost corner inside the net to out Argentina 2-1, at 112' mark.

 

With the clock winding down, in final counter-attack through the middle Lautaro Martínez passed the ball to Thiago Almada who shot towards goal bouncing off goalkeeper Gregor Kobel's body to Lautaro Martínez who shot a right footed to the near right goalpost in back of the net to seal the 3-1, for Argentina.
