This showdown match between the tglobal powerhouse teams with Argentina who is defending its title, and England was looking for its 2nd FIFA crown after 60 years, played all their cards in a game where the winner advance and loser goes home.

 

Both teams played very cautiously from the start with a thigh man to man coverage and lock-up defensive line. The ball was kept on the middle of the field and there was not any major dangerous offensive attack at either goal that resulted in a scoreless half.

England on its first major counter-attack in the 2nd half through the right-side corner, Morgan Rogers sent a center pass inside the 6-yard box intended for Anthony Gordon who score with a tap-in back of the net near the left goalpost to put "The Three Lions" in front 1-0, at 55' mark.

The game broke loose after that with Argentina going forward in search of the equalizer with numerous consecutive counter-attacks, while England decided to play defensively and hold the lead of 1-0, the rest of the game.

Argentina pressure with 4-consecutive counterattacks that barely missed the back of the net til with 5' left in the game, Enzo Fernandez score the equalizer to level the game 1-1, and send their fans in a wild celebration.

Messi near the top of the box passed the ball to Enzo Fernandez who score with a curled right-footed near the left goalpost to level the game.

​

7' later & in stoppage time, Alexis MacAllister shot a right footed toward goal hitting the goalpost & rebounding to Messi, who centered the ball inside the 6-yard box finding Lautaro Martínez who score with a header to seal the 2-1, historic victory for Argentina.​
