NEW YORK, NY (SMI-GLOBAL-ENTERTAINMENT-AWARDS, 10.28-12.01.25) – The Gotham Film & Media Institute announced today through its social media the nominations for the 35th edition of The Gothams Film Awards with its new expanded Best Feature category from 5 to 10-Nominees, selecting 40 feature films and 25 performances in ten award categories with "One Battle After Another" receiving a record of six nominations.
About The Gothams
As the earliest honors of their respective seasons, The Gotham Film Awards and The Gotham Television Awards recognize both emerging and established creators and performances. By celebrating bold, original storytelling that shapes the cultural landscape—whether in independent works that push artistic boundaries or commercial entertainment that connects with the broadest audiences—these awards further the mission of The Gotham Film & Media Institute’s year-round programming.
In announcing this year’s nominations, Jeffrey Sharp, Executive Director of The Gotham Film & Media Institute, said: “This year’s nominees celebrate an extraordinary year of cinematic achievement — one defined by bold, original storytelling, festival breakouts, and filmmakers whose independent vision extends across studios and streamers. This year’s Gotham nominees, and our Gotham Tributes, reflect the year’s most accomplished filmmakers and performers and embody the community that has defined The Gothams for 35 years.”
Nominees are selected by committees of film critics, journalists, festival programmers, and film curators. Separate juries of writers, directors, actors, producers, editors, and other film industry professionals will determine the final recipients of The Gothams.
The Gothams Tributes, which will also be presented at the ceremony, are the organization's highest honors celebrating outstanding achievement in film. The Tributes recognize the industry's most accomplished creators and performers whose work has made an indelible impact on both the art form and popular culture.
In addition to the nominees , the Gotham Film Awards will honor its 2025 Gotham Tribute Awards to: Tessa Thompson with "Spotlight Tribute", Cast of Sinners " Ensemble Tribute", Frankenstein‘s Guillermo del Toro, Oscar Isaac, and Jacob Elordi " Vanguard Tribute" and Noah Baumbach " Director Tribute" at The 35th Gothams Film Awards Gala ceremony to take place on Monday December 01, 2025 at Cipriani's Wall Street in NYC.
