NEW YORK, NY (SMI-ENTERTAINMENT, 09.29-11.22.22)-The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences celebrated its 50th Anniversary presenting the Emmys to the Television winner creators and performers from eight different countries including the UK, South Korea, Netherlands, Australia and New Zealand during its award ceremony gala hosted by US Illusionist and entertainers Penn & Teller's Penn Jillette at NY Hilton Hotel in New York City.

 

There were 60 Nominees across 15 categories representing 23 countries in the competition with the gala attended mostly by television professionals and industry VIPs from around the world.

Nominees included from Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Chile, China, Colombia, France, Germany, Japan, Mexico, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Philippines, Qatar, Singapore, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom & the United States.

The International Academy also added a new category " Sports Documentary "that debuted on this year award ceremony and 2 Special Awards in addition to 15 Emmy® statues were presented by the International Academy during the evening. 

“Television around the world has really come of age.” said International Academy President & CEO Bruce Paisner.  “What is especially gratifying on this 50th anniversary is seeing the number of countries globally which produce world class television programs and personalities, and win Emmys."

The Presenters of the 50th International Emmys Awards were: Blair Underwood Song Joong-ki, Tom Cavanagh (The Flash), Melissa Roxburgh (Manifest), Roy Wood Jr. (The Daily Show), Jon Rudnitsky (The Big Leap), Sabrina Impacciatore (White Lotus Season 2), Annet Mahendru (Manifest West), Ryan Eggold (New Amsterdam), Olympian Edwin Moses, Melanie Zanetti(Australian Actress), Treat Williams (Chesapeake Shores), German Actress, Nilam Farooq and Brazilian Actress, Tais Araujo.

South Korean actor Song Joong-ki presented the Directorate Award to Miky Lee, Vice Chairwoman of CJ Group.

 

Actors Blair Underwood and Benjamin Bratt presented the Founders Award to writer, director and producer Ava DuVernay

 

The 15 winning International Emmy® programs and performances are: Freddie Mercury: The Final Act (Arts Programming), Dougray Scott (Best Performance by an Actor), Lou de Laâge (Best Performance by an Actress), Sex Education – Season 3 (Comedy), Enfants de Daech, les damnés de la guerre [Iraq's Lost Generation] (Documentary), Vigil (Drama Series), Shaun the Sheep: Flight Before Christmas (Kids: Animation), My Better World(Kids: Factual & Entertainment), KABAM! Kids: Live Action), Queen of Speed (Sports Documentary), Buscando A Frida (Non-English Language US Primetime Program), Love on the Spectrum- Season 2 (Non-Scripted Entertainment), Rūrangi (Short-Form Series), Yeonmo [The King’s Affection] (Telenovela) and Help (TV Movie/Mini-Series). Dougray Scott accepted the Emmy® for Best Performance by an Actor for his role as detective Ray Lennox in Irvine Welsh's Crime.

 

Lou de Laâge accepted the Emmy® for Best Performance by an Actress for her role as Eugenie in Le Bal Des Folles [The Mad Women’s Ball].
